MODERN COUNTRY HOME
When Diana and Colin McCabe self built their own home, it

was the first time the couple had undertaken anything bigger than an extension project. Colin had just retired from his job as an IT consultant and Diana was looking for a change from part-time teaching.
“Our children had grown up and we both wanted to do something different; to take on a new challenge,” says Diana. Regardless of their lack of experience, their meticulous approach to the home building process allowed their new venture to be a great success.
Thorough planning, careful budgeting and enormous attention to detail throughout helped to bring the project in on time and on budget.

HALL LANE BRAMHOPE
Landmarks (UK), a Yorkshire-based developer of exclusive sustainable properties has chosen ICF for the construction of a magnificent four-storey family home.
The new build at Hall Lane, Bramhope overlooks the glorious scenery afforded by the West Yorkshire valley
The property sits in a fairly steep bank spanning the full width of the site. The front façade comprises only 2.5 storeys, while the rear, which enjoys the views, has 3.5 storeys out of the ground. A range of luxury leisure facilities, including a large swimming pool, are housed in the lower basement floor.
The footprint of the house occupies much of the plot and has been designed to maximise valley views, on every floor there are wide openings with bifolding doors, which open onto balconies. Due for completion in early 2017, the south-facing front elevation will be finished in a traditional stone cladding and a thin coat render applied to the remaining sides.

THE CURLY HOUSE
NUDURA’s ICF project, The Curly House was announced outright winner of the Domestic Newbuild category in the Greenbuild Awards 2014, celebrating the best sustainable projects and products for the build environment.
Judge Dr Kerry Mashford, Chief Executive of the National Energy Foundation, explained the value of the Greenbuild Awards and the presentation was hosted by journalist David Derbyshire.
Designer Jake White of Ecotecture said: ‘The Curly House is an exceptional example of how low energy architecture does not necessarily equate to design limitations or ‘inside the box’ thinking.
‘This high performing and elegant contemporary home meets the family’s design aspirations, enjoys minimal reliance on fossil fuels and the national grid and is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) and National Park. It is the most complex design that architects, Ecotecture have ever designed.
